Infrared Sauna
Relaxation and well-being.
More relaxing and tolerable than traditional saunas
Temperature around 60°, unlike traditional ones which are between 80° and 100°.
More benefits
Radiant heat that penetrates deeper into the body. Burns calories, cleanses toxins, improves mood, enhances sleep, helps strengthen the immune system, and much more.
Glowing skin
Cleaner, more hydrated, elastic and radiant skin.
In traditional saunas, the air is heated to temperatures between 80° and 100°C, sometimes with dry heat and other times by adding water the heat source to generate steam. This heat is slowly transmitted to the body by convection, penetrating only a few millimeters. And although these saunas have many health benefits, the extreme heat and density of the air make it very difficult to breathe and often hard for many people to tolerate.
In the Infrared Sauna, the heat is dry, and the air temperature is around 60°C, making it much more pleasant, tolerable, and relaxing than traditional saunas. Here, the heat is generated by several lamps that convert electricity into radiant heat, covering the entire body. It is the same heat we feel in a sun-warmed environment, and the wavelength is absorbed most efficiently by the body. It is 100% safe and natural (some of the sun’s UV rays cause cellular damage in people—such as those from tanning beds—but infrared rays do not). This heat penetrates deeper into the body, reaching muscles, organs, and joints where the heat of traditional saunas does not reach, generating in turn greater sweating and multiplying the regenerative and detoxifying benefits of the sauna.
As the body attempts to cool itself through sweat, the heart rate increases. This increases blood circulation, delivering more oxygen and creating new nutrients that stimulate cell regeneration and tissue repair.
It also increases the production of nitric oxide. This molecule helps dilate arteries and prevents blood clotting, thus regulating blood pressure.
To counteract the heat, the body works harder to maintain its core temperature, accelerating metabolism and increasing blood flow, similar to the effort exerted during physical activity, which stimulates calorie burning.
A single infrared sauna session is equivalent to 30 minutes of moderate exercise.
Far-infrared light penetrates deep into the body, warming tissues, increasing blood flow, and dilating blood vessels. This results in a reduction of muscle tension, contractures, joint stiffness, and general aches and pains associated with conditions such as fibromyalgia and arthritis.
It also accelerates injury recovery and alleviates many musculoskeletal ailments.
The deep heat of infrared saunas induces sweating, a natural way to eliminate metabolic byproducts (toxins) and impurities from the skin. It promotes blood flow, delivering nutrients to hydrate the skin, ligaments, and other tissues, restoring elasticity and promoting cellular rejuvenation.
It also helps maintain muscle tone.
Using an infrared sauna increases circulation, delivering more oxygen and nutrients to the areas and organs of the body that need them for recovery. It also promotes cellular detoxification and strengthens the immune system. With increased circulation and deeper heat penetration, more toxins are drawn from muscles and organs to the skin, where they are then eliminated through perspiration.
In an infrared sauna, the heat is generated by long-wave infrared (IR) lamps that penetrate deeply into the skin, warming the body without significantly heating the surrounding air. IR rays are the same beneficial rays found just below visible light from the sun, the rays that warm us. They should not be confused with microwaves, which are further down the spectrum of light/radiation, as are UVA/UVB rays and other rays that are harmful to health. In fact, many kinesiologists and therapists use localized infrared emitters to improve various conditions and injuries. It is also used in pediatrics in incubators and radiant warmers for newborns.
Essentially, an infrared sauna provides many of the benefits of the sun without the harmful UVA and UVB rays. This activity is completely safe and has no side effects. It also does not produce a tan like a tanning bed, which emits UVA/UVB radiation.
Taking a sauna is not recommended if you have any of these illnesses or conditions:
*Various heart problems, low blood pressure, or untreated hypertension
*Open wounds or burns of any kind
*Chronic venous problems or acute varicose veins
*Cerebral circulation problems, thrombosis, post-stroke conditions
*Glaucoma and other eye pressure problems
*Hyperthyroidism
*Tumors
*Inflammatory diseases such as hepatitis or nephritis, fever, or various infections
*People with medical implants usually do not experience any adverse effects, but should consult their doctor (for example, metal pins and rods, artificial joints, silicone, or any other type of non-dental surgical implant)
*Older adults, people with any type of weakness, and pregnant women, especially during the first trimester or with a history of premature births, should consult their doctor
